Welcome to Guringay Gloucester Family History & Heritage

We are descendants of the old Aboriginal families of the Gloucester district, with our family histories centred on three significant ancestral lines: Jack & Biddy Springheel, Jack Cook & Jessie Brummy, and Susan Russell (née Cook).

Through these families, our connections extend across Gloucester, Barrington, Copeland, Rawdon Vale and the surrounding Country, where our ancestors lived, worked, raised their families and maintained their connections to Country and community.

Guringay Gloucester brings together family history, oral history, historical records and cultural knowledge to preserve these stories, correct misinformation where evidence allows, and ensure the experiences of our ancestors are carried forward with dignity and respect.

We invite you to explore our families, our history and our connection to Country.
